Local amateur musicians invited to join Milton's own Concert Band

Milton, Ontario -Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion and Rhythm section members needed to perform a variety of music from Broadway to Big Band, Classical to Contemporary. The Band expects to begin rehearsals in February 2007 on Thursdays from 8 - 10pm.

After moving to Milton in 2005, founders Angela Rozario and Cheryl Ciccarelli quickly recognized the lack of performing opportunities for adult amateur musicians in the Milton area.

Former members of the Etobicoke Community Concert Band, the two soon tired of the commute to Etobicoke and began planning a band for their new hometown. Angela Rozario explains the group's genesis, "Given the number of new residents in this area, the wealth of cultural events and the wonderful existing arts community, it seemed unbelievable that there was not already a community band. Cheryl and I felt that this was something that both local musicians and the community needed and was long overdue. We're excited to begin actively recruiting members for what is sure to be our very exciting inaugural season."

Another of the band's co-founders, Karen Sexton explains why MCB appeals to its members. "Some of us have been out of school a long time. Some of us have just graduated. We come from every demographic and occupation. We miss the energy and excitement of an ensemble. Most importantly, we miss having a reason to practice and a venue where we can perform. For our members, MCB fullfills a need to keep their talent alive."

Comprised mainly of adult amateur musicians from all over Halton Region, the band's mission will be to provide Milton and area residents with an opportunity to enjoy and perform great music right here in their own community. Exceptional students of secondary schools and/or music institutions may also be considered for membership, if sections need to be filled.

The band, which will play a wide variety of music from Broadway to Big Band, Classical to Contemporary, will rehearse on Thursday evenings from 8 - 10pm. Location TBA.
