Consisting of Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion and Rhythm sections, the Milton Concert Band is made up of talented, amateur musicians who just love to play. Drawn from all over Halton region, the band repertoire includes a variety of music from Big Band to Broadway and Classical to Contemporary.
The Band’s mission is provide an opportunity for residents of Milton and the surrounding areas to enjoy and perform great music by fostering a musical organization whose goals are twofold:
For members:
MCB will provide adult amateur musicians with a venue to perform and the opportunity to hone their abilities through regular practice, a range of musical selections, ensemble and sectional rehearsals and the guidance of the Music Director.
For the community:
MCB will provide entertaining and vibrant programs that feature a varied repertoire, high quality ensemble playing and, when appropriate, outstanding solo or group performances from both within and outside the band. MCB will
endeavor to include at least one free community concert/event per season as a way of giving back to the community.
About our conductor—Joseph Resendes
MCB is under the musical direction of Joseph Resendes, B.FA, MA, PhD (candidate). Mr. Resendes is a composer and woodwind musician (saxophone, clarinet and flute) who has performed in and around the GTA for over 10 years. Raised in a musical family, Mr. Resendes was introduced to the concert band / marching band setting at the age of
4 and has since had a growing passion for music ensembles. He received degrees at York University focusing on Solo Classical saxophone performance, conducting, composition, and digital recording. He has performed in solo appearances, concert bands, swing bands, saxophone quintets, and various musical theatre orchestras in venues from Living
Arts Centre, Maple Leaf Gardens and Pallais Royal. He has also composed several works for large and small wind/string ensembles. Mr. Resendes is currently the musical director of the St. Mary's Catholic Church Choir, Assistant Conductor of the Music Society of St. Helen's, Leader of various other small ensembles around town and is working
at York University Music dept. as a TA and Guest Lecturer.
