About Milton Concert Band

Consisting of Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion and Rhythm sections, the Milton Concert Band is made up of talented, amateur musicians who just love to play. Drawn from all over Halton region, the band repertoire includes a variety of music from Big Band to Broadway and Classical to Contemporary.

The ensemble began taking shape early in 2007, when recently arrived residents and long-time friends Angela Rozario and Cheryl Ciccarelli, having recognized the growing artistic community in Milton, decided to put a call out to see if there were any other area amateur musicians interested in performing together…more

Milton Concert Band Music Director – Sheena Nykolaiszyn, Mus Bac, B. Ed.


Sheena Nykolaiszyn began piano lessons at the age of five and after studying with Boris Berlin, she graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Music Degree and a Bachelor of Education Degree.  As a teenager, she played percussion and violin in the Etobicoke Youth Orchestra.  In 1985 she decided to study flute and has continued to play flute in various community bands throughout the GTA for the past 35 years.

Sheena continues in her third year as the Artistic Director for the Milton Choristers. She is also a founding member of the Milton Concert Band and continues in her second year as the Music Director.  She is a flautist and pianist with the Milton Philharmonic Orchestra and sits on the board of directors as secretary. She is a founding member of the flute ensemble, Simply Flutes and for many years took an active leadership role in the community-music arena as a board member/special-event conductor with the Canadian Band Association.

 Sheena retired in 2010 as the Head of Music at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute after a 31 year full time music career with the Toronto District School Board.  Her music programme at ECI was well known for the highest degree of excellence in performance and its extensive travel. She accompanied her music students on six European music tours.

 Sheena is proud to call Milton her home.
